CLWB RYGBI CAERDYDD 17 CAMBRIAN WELFARE 21
Cambrian started their campaign with a narrow victory against the favourites for the title. It was Cambrian who started
better of the 2 sides with the front 5 dominating the Clwb side often pushing their opponents back at most scrums and it was
from this department Cambrian were awarded 2 penalties to take a 6 point lead througth the boot of Julian Huntley. It was
Cambrian who had most of the possesion in the first half but they let Clwb back into the game with some silly penalties and
a knock on that cost them a try to go into the half time break 14 points to 6 down. In the second half it was Clwb who took
the first points with a superbly taken drop goal to increase their lead. but from this point on and the half time team
talk from coach Ceri Brown starting to sink in Cambrian started to up the pace of the game with the strong running of the
Ashford brothers Gavin and Christian making big breaks througth the middle of the clwb defensive line and then a superb
break from outside half Huntley that led to a try from the impressive Nathan James converted by Huntley to reduce the
scoreline to 17 points to 13 and with Cambrian now in a rampant mood they took the lead with centre Christian Ashford slicing
througth their line to score a fine try. Julian Huntley then added a further penalty to seal a well deserved win for
cambrian. next week Cambrian will face another hard league encounter with the visit to the welfare ground of Llandridnod wells
with a 2-30pm kick off.

Captain Christian Ashford and further tries from Richie Lewis (2), prop Carwyn Griffiths and Mark Davies and a conversion
from Julian Huntley gave Cam a 27.0 half time lead. The second half continued as the first with further tries from
Christian Ashford, Julian Huntley (4 cons), Steve Davies (3), Gavin Thomas (2) and Chris Hopkin. Although happy with the result
there were many occasions where wrong options and mis-placed passes resulted in missed chances and coach Ceri Brown will be
working on this in training. Next week Cam are home to another unbeaten side Caerau Ely, kick off 2.30

in the corner. A further penalty made the score 14-3. Cambrian finished the game strongly and as for the whole game were let
down by handling errors and a few strange decisions from the referee. Next week Cambrian are home to Cardiff Saracens, kick
off 2.30pm.
cambrian welfare 26 cardiff saracens 0 Cambrian returned to winning ways
with a comfortable bonus point win against a spirited but limited cardiff side. Cambrian opened the score with an early try
from the returning Julian Huntley, who playing out of position at full back was superb. Further tries from Gareth Ryan and
Gavin Ashford, both converted by Julian Hutley made the half time score 19-0. The second half was a messy affair in deteriorating
conditions, again as last week, handling errors and wrong options resulted in only one further try by Anthony Jones, this
again converted by Julian Huntley. Next week Cambrian are in bowl action against division 4 leaders Dowlais. This game kicks
off at 2pm at the Welfare Ground
Cambrian Welfare 20 Dowlais 10
A superb all round performance
by Cambrian resulted in a deserved victory against previously unbeaten Dowlais who are two divisions above Cambrian. In the
first half Cambrian created many chances but found themselve 3-0 down at half time. The second half started with Cambrian
on top and they took the lead with a try from Steve Daniels, but straight from the kick off Dowlais regained the lead with

Playing in a howling gale and rain, Cam found themselves 11-0 down after 20 minutes
of play. Finding themselves up against a big pack, Cam gradually got back into the game and a try from both Steve Daniels
and Niall Sibley followed by conversions from Julian Huntley gave Cambrian a 14-11 lead at half time. The second half was
all one way traffic for Cambrian. The windy conditions meant that the ball was kept in hand, whcih supplied a further five
tries from Paul 'Magic' Martin, Jonathon Richardson, Julian Huntley and another from Steve Daniels. Julian Huntley
continued to convert the tries, which secured a bonus point for Cambrian. Cambrian are next in action on December 5th when
they'll be entertaining Llanrumney- Kick off is at 2:30pm.

In a game played in atrocious conditions, which probably should not have started,
Cambrian Welfare lost their second league game of the season. Cambrian started strongly and took a 3-0 lead with a Julian
Huntley penalty. There was no further scoring until the last play of the first half . Cambrian switched off after a quick
penalty, which lead to a converted try, making the core 7-3 as the half-time whistle sounded. With the
weather conditions getting worse, the second half was a lottery but Llanrumney controlled the game. A second try from the
away team was scored after a five-metre lineout gave the visitors a deserved victory.
Swalec Bowl Round 3

by defences, Cambrian took the lead with a Julian Huntley penalty, which was levelled by Penygraig. A further penalty to each

Cambrian Welfare RFC 14
Glyncoch RFC 20
Cambrian suffered their first defeat in any cup competition for three years when old rivals Glyncoch
ran out deserved winners in this game. As always, in a game against Glyncoch this was physical, close and fair. Cambrian took
an early 3-0 lead with a Julian Huntley penalty. A try from a five metre line and a penalty gave Glyncoch a 8-3 half time
lead. An early try in the second half increased Glyncochs lead to 13-3 before a Gavin Thomas try and another Julian Huntley
penalty made the score 13-11. Another try after a mistake in the Cambrian 22 made the score 22-11. Another Julian Huntley
penalty brought the score to 20-14. Despite controlling all the game in the last 20 minute, Cambrian were unable to break
through the Glync defence. Next week, Cambrian are back in league action with a visit to Pontrhydyfen. Kick-off is at 2:30pm.
Pontrhydyfen 7 Cambrian Welfare 55
Cambrian returned to league action with a convincing nine try
bonus point win at Pontrhydyfen. Cambrian took an early lead with a Christian Ashford try, a further two followed by Julian
Huntley and Niall Sibley, all of which converted by Huntley. Cambrian had a healthy 21-0 lead at half time. Pontrhydyfen
started the second half strongly and scored a converted try picking up a stray pass in the Cambrian 22. After this it was
all one-way traffic as further tried from Gafyn Keepings (his first for Cambrian), three from Jonathon Richardson, Steve Daniels
and aother from Julian Huntley who also kicked two conversions. There could have been further scores but the referee called
time on the game approx. ten minutes early.
Walkerburn 0 Cambrian 37
Cam retained the Camburn
Cup with a comfortable victory. Cambrian took the lead with a try from Richie Lewis converted by Julian Huntley. A further
two tries from Richie Lewis plus on from Gavin Thomas gave Cambrian a 22-0 half time lead. The second half was the same as
Cam totally dominated the game and a further try from Nathan James and two from Steve Daniels completed the scoring. The result
was secondary to the day as the sides were led on by Scottish pipers who also played the national anthems before the game.
The club would also like to thank Cwmclydach School for organising a tag rugby match prior to kick-off.
Cambrian 22 Llanrumney 27
Everyone with Cambrian are still wondering how they
lost this match. After dominating for much of the game, Cambrian started on the front line but somehow found themselves 7-0
down after twenty minutes following a favourable bounce for the home side. However, Cambrian fought back with a try and conversion
from Julian Huntley. A penalty from the home side made the half time score 10-7. Llanrumney increased their lead to 17-7 before
a penalty from Julian Huntley and the conversion from a Steve Daniels try made the score 17-17. Yet another favourable bounce
enabled Llanrumney to make the score 24-17. Cambrian refused to give in and a try from Christopher Winnett gave Cambrian
a losing bonus point, which was the least they deserved. A disallowed try for a harsh forward-pass denied Cambrian a possible
victory. Next week Cambrian are at home to Ynysowen.
